FAULTS WITH AIRTEL
Airtel provided us corporate-connection in name of Abhinav & Aditya with eleven mobile numbers out of which six numbers were already under Airtel-scheme of one-year rental of rupees 998 with call-charges 50 paise per minute. We applied on customer-care number 121 for same scheme for rest of the five numbers out of which four numbers (9910033711, 9910033722, 9910080011 and 9910080066) were in two-year’ advance-rental from 17.01.2006. One number 9818133733 was under ‘New CUG India Home 299 plan’. But to our surprise, we were still getting bills for all telephone-numbers under old uneconomical plans. On our making query at customer-care number 121 on 23.06.2007, some Vikas shocked us by revealing that plan-change request was implemented on 24.04.2007 but wrongly under old plan of two-year’ advance-rental reactivated w.e.f. 24.04.2007 even though expiry-date for the same plan would be 17.01.2008. Vikas assured to check from the records how Airtel committed this mistake. Initially Vikas kept his promise to make calls back on the plea that checking was taking time. But when his call-backs did not turn up, I had to again approach customer-care number 121 which was kept on hold for one hour on 26.06.2007 by some Khalik who again promised for a call-back from Vikas. Similar call-back promises were made by Pawan on 27.06.2007 and by Sunny on 29.06.2007. But Vikas who was handling the case never called back to reveal the actual position. However some days later some Kajol called me assuring to provide full details of the case. But she also never turned back.
Ultimately I again dialled customer-care number 121 on 09.07.2007 when some Honey told that Vikas had already made the picture clear, which in itself a blunt lie. Operators at 121 on Airtel are trained to fool subscribers with sweet talks but doing nothing. They do not connect subscribers to their seniors. I faced similar difficulties with Airtel on earlier occasions too. Complete data made from my mobile-number 9810033711 to customer-care number 121 in last three years should be investigated and supplied to me to reveal working at Airtel.
Airtel should provide e-mail ID of its Managing Director Shri Sunil Mittal so that he may be made aware of difficulties faced by Airtel subscribers. I also request Telecom Authority of (TRAI) to immediately implement plan to allow change of operator while keeping the mobile-number same so that subscribers may be at liberty to switch to operator of their choice without change in mobile-number. Mobile-phone operators including Airtel which are governed by government-regulator TRAI, should be brought under purview of ‘Right-To-Information Act’ because presently these companies do not care to respond to subscribers’ grievances.
